WELCOME TO DEPARTMENT OF MASS COMMUNICATION DEGREE OF BACHELOR OF SCIENCE

INTRODUCTION
The B.Sc. programme in Mass Communication is aimed at giving students a high level of theoretical education in the furtherance of professional careers in the Mass Communication industry. The knowledge and skill acquired would enable graduate to work in various areas of Mass Communication such as newspaper, magazine, television and corporate information services.

PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES
On completion of this course, the graduate will be able to carry out the following functions at a professional level.

    Gather, investigate and report news for the print and electronic media.
    Select, edit, research and prepare for publication, news items, and features, photographic materials and carry out investigations for print and electronic media.
    Access, evaluate and assemble materials for book publishing.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Direct Entry candidates are expected to posses a National Diploma or its equivalent in related areas with a cumulative grade point average of not less than 2.5 and must in addition have completed at least one year of professional (SIWES). In exceptional cases, candidates who had a cumulative of grade point average of between 2.0 and 2.49 in his ND programme must have acquired at least two years of cognate experience in order to qualify for admission.
Fresh students: Candidate must have five credit passes in WAEC or NECO obtained not in more than two sittings. The credit passes must include English Language, Mathematics, Literature in English, Economics, as well as any other one subject, preferable in humanities.
